About David and Jo and County Casual Tours

Love of the County and all that it offers

Hi, I’m David (he/him) and with me in the picture (and life and business) is Jo (she/her).

After visiting Prince Edward County a few times, either staying with friends or at local hotels or Airbnbs, we fell in love with it. The County’s beauty, tranquility, beaches, and vistas were too hard to leave – not to mention the many farms, wineries, breweries, cideries (Stock+Row is our neighbour) , galleries, restaurants, and distilleries (Kinsip Distillery is our neighbour, too)!

Suddenly we realized that we were home - so we moved here! Initially, we were commuting back and forth from Toronto for work but quickly concluded that we wanted to be here full-time. Jo found work (she’s a Dental Hygienist) and I continued working from home for a financial services company.

Before I knew it, working on my computer all day left me feeling like I was missing out on life in the County. So, after more than 30 years in financial services, I left in order to start County Casual Tours in early 2020 - not the best timing!

I chose this business because it allows me to share with others what attracted us to the County – while having fun doing it! And, after a fun first year (despite COVID-19), Jo joined the business (now we have two VW Atlas SUVs) part-time while also continuing to temp as a Dental Hygienist until 2024 when she happily decided to focus just on County Casual Tours.

By the way, we’re not experts on wine, beer, cider or spirits, but perhaps we, like most people, are enthusiasts! So, in addition to driving, we can share our passion and some knowledge about all the great places to do tastings in the County, but we’ll leave the expertise about their unique products to the wonderful people conducting the tastings.
